Tips for a Successful Family Photo Shoot

Just recently I corralled our family and headed out to take family pictures in the Sacramento evening heat. Yes I’m crazy and should just wait until fall, but I wanted to document this adorable phase my boys are in and I am so glad we make it happen! We weren’t off to the best start since it was close to the boys bedtime, my daughter decided she wasn’t in the mood to smile, and it was hot! But….we made the best of it and I love the way the pictures turned out.

Some things are out of our control so I am here are a few tips on things to do to make it go smoother and FUN!

  1. Feed everyone right before so nobody gets HANGRY

  2. Get haircuts a week before

  3. Leave a few minutes early so you show up without road range or stress

  4. Know where you are going and meeting the photographer

  5. Iron and pick out your clothes a week before so your not scrambling right before

  6. Put those lovely ironed clothes/shirts on when you arrive so the seatbelt doesn’t ruin your hard work

  7. Bring treats for after and water because its always a workout in my opinion

  8. Leave it to the Photographer to make it fun for all! It’s a short time to capture lasting memories!
